About Deb

I love animals.  All animals!  I don't care if they walk, run, gallop, crawl or fly.  They are all great.  I love Photography.  I love to photograph everything.....animals.....people..animals & people, landscapes, food, whatever.

I have never NOT had a pet....or a camera.

Growing up my family would foster rescued pets.  I think that is why I have such a love of animals.

The first pet I remember is my dog, Goober.  He was a hairy mop of a dog.

My first camera was a 110.

My next dog was a Doxie mix named Daisy Mae Crystal.  Don't ask me why my 8 year old self named her that....probably because I was 8.  But, because of Daisy Mae I have a love of Doxie mixes.

I love their little flipper feet and their personalities.  They make me happy.  We got Duchess to be Daisy's companion.

Duchess was a hairy rat terrier mix that kinda looked like Toto.  Tragically she was stolen from my backyard in Modesto.   We later learned from the MPD that she was "recovered" from a Vietnamese family along with several others that had been packaged for consumption.  I was sick for weeks.

When I was 12 we inherited my grandmother's Newfoundland, Lucy and my great-grandmother's Chihuahua, Stinker.  Stinker lived for 21 years, was blind, had no teeth and smelled weird but I loved her.  Lucy, being a huge dog, didn't live as long but she was the reason I fell in love with really big, furry dogs that I could hug and they would hug me back.

There have always been other animals around.

Some kind of small

Some not so much

In my 20's I had three Samoyeds and I also had a Collie/German Shepard named Holly.

I loved my Sammies but Holly was special.  I had a connection with her.  She was my baby.

In my 30's we adopted a Leonberger Golden Retriever mix named Sable.  She was such a joy but unfortunately sickly and only lived for about 8 years.  She was the sweetest most fun dog.
She was the most painful loss of an animal I have ever felt.  It took a couple of years for us to get over her and even consider getting another dog.

During the time we were dogless we were entertained by three very different, very temperamental cats and four hilarious hens and an obnoxious rooster.

My husband and I are currently owned by our three dogs.  Buddy is a Doxie X.  Cooper a Min Pin X.  Harlow is a Maltese jackrabbit X.  All are an exercise in photographer patience because they don't like to have their picture taken.  Buddy runs away as soon as I have the camera out.  He hates the sound of the click.  I think it scares him.  Cooper is so curious he gets too close and I spend 10 minutes getting dog snot off my lens.  Harlow has ADHD and doesn't sit still long enough for me to get anything good.
